Floating Rough Sapphire Ring

A rough sapphire with one flat, polished surface, floats in the centre of this sculpted, hand-carved ring.  A unique marriage of ancient, yet modern design. The sapphire is held away from the finger with four talon claws stretching from a golden frame, with windows beneath the stone so light can reveal its full beauty. 

This unheated, untreated sapphire from Queensland, Australia is ethical and fully traceable to the source. Its moss green colour is enhanced with flashes of colbalt blue and light daffodil yellow. The effect is like looking into a miniature, three dimensional landscape through the top polished face into the rough depths of the stone.

The solid 9 karat Yellow Gold band narrows towards the setting, increasing the focus on this incredible Sapphire. Created originally in wax, the texture of the metal is almost painted across the geometric surface, echoing the style of the stone itself.
